Name: The Parent Coach. Descripton:My name is Jeff Tesch. I have been a licensed marriage and family therapist for 16 years. I love to help families find more success and happiness. My favorite work is marriage therapy, parent coaching, treating depression and anxiety (all ages), assessment and treatment for childhood disorders (ADHD, Autism, ODD etc.), and working with adoption and fostercare. Effective therapy starts with an effective assessment. I love the process of learning about a family/couple/individual. I always have to watch the clock as I regularly get lost in the discussion. I believe the greater understanding I have about a family and their challenges the more focused and effective my treatment and interventions will be. I like to think of an assessment like putting together a puzzle. When we get all the puzzle pieces together we have a clear picture and can set a clear plan of action. I know clients are anxious and often desperate for change and relief when they seek services. In a first session I feel a great responsibility to build hope. I love this process as I begin to share that I can help them and that I know the tools I have to offer will help them achieve their goals. Tools that work are tools that are well researched and that I have found effective in working with families. I love that I do not have to guess if an intervention will work or not! We really do know through research what maintains and strengthens marriages. We really do know what parenting skills bring about well behaved and healthy developing children. We really do know tools that decrease anxiety and depression and develop more hope, happiness, and peace to life! I think I have one of the most rewarding jobs in the world as I get to share these tools and see lives change! One of the greatest barriers to people getting help is the stigma around "therapy". My business name is The Parent Coach. While I use therapy technique, theory and training, I really see myself as a coach.
