Name: Brent Hill. Descripton:Professional finish carpentry at non-contractor prices. Looking for side-jobs to fill my Fridays and Saturdays. I am a licensed Handyman and so that limits me to $3,000 per job. I own most of the tools and can travel throughout Salt Lake and Davis Counties. Things I can do well: hang and case doors, all forms of trim, both stain grade and paint grade, (base, crown, shadow boxes, etc.), wall-mounted handrails, custom closets, storage shelves. I'm sorry but I don't do stairs. I can do treads, but to do the handrails, balisters, and newels I need thousands of dollars in specialized tools. Things is can do (but not so well), drywall repair, painting, tile and hardwood floors. I would prefer that you get a free quote from a contractor. This will help in two ways - first to show how much money I can save you and second to see if the job is in danger of going over my $3,000 limit placed by the State of Utah. While I was working as a professional finish carpenter, I was getting paid $25/hr and the contractor would charge the client $63/hr for my services when I was commonly the only man on the job. The reason for this is to cover tools, overhead, workman's comp, and unemployment. I can make short trips during the week to inspect the job and assess the materials that will be needed, but (as stated above) I can only work Fridays and Saturdays. I would be willing to put in long hours on those days.
