Good service, but shady business practices.

by on

I asked them to come out for an A/C tune up and found our r-22 coolant was low in the older system. They gave me three options: add coolant for $315, add coolant and a can of stop leak for $570, or add coolant, stop leak, and a compressor booster for $710. I told the tech I only planned on living there for the next few years and honestly wanted to know if the second two options were necessary. He said, no, just go with the coolant. Even if there is a slow leak it will take a few years to leak out. I agreed and 35 minutes later, he was done with the refill. When he came with the bill I presented a $50 off coupon from Yellow Pages and all of the sudden the price went up to $385. He said he was doing me a favor at $315 and the coupon would only apply to the "book price" of $385. I flipped out and told him I'd leave a negative review everywhere possible and the price went back to $315 minus the $50 coupon. I'm glad the A/C is fixed for now, but a little miffed by the whole thing...

Service excellent, practices deceptive

by on

Used Action several times over a course of a few years. They did a good job plumbing-wise, but they were very deceptive and lied when they tried to sell us something or get us to upgrade. When we replaced our water heater, the tech made it sound like our pipes were going to burst that moment if we didn't get it done right then - doomsday scenario. We had a second opinion and they said it didn't need replacing for a few years. We also had our furnace serviced - same scenario if we didn't upgrade. The tech also purposefully didn't ignite the pilot light so we would have to call them back because it wouldn't work. We lit it ourselves and never called again. Good service if you can see through all the smoke, mirrors and BS.

Horrible Experience

by on

We had action come for an estimate and without even touching the garbage disposal he informed me that it needed to be completely replaced. He didn't even flip it on! Did look down the drain though and told me the blades were free so there was nothing jammed. Told me it would be $500 to replace and after we told him we would not be able to do that right now he said he could "mess with it" and get it working for $89. I then said that would be great since I have a $33 off coupon at which point he said the $89 was after the coupon. Uh, I hadn't told him I had a coupon. He said If I wanted to use the coupon I would need to pay $230. Makes sense. Not. He told me I would pay the $89 once it was fixed. Wait, is this the same guy that said it needed a new motor for $500? I was very taken aback by his attitude and he got angry and ended up storming out. DO NOT CALL THEM! Take your money elsewhere, they will rip you off!
