Rip Off! We had a terrible experience

by on

If you want a $500/hr plumber, call Whipple. We had the repairman bid a job (tub drain) telling us it was a huge job that would require removing the floor in a closet, excavating all the the dirt under the building down the hall to get to the bathroom, and rebuilding the floor. The estimate was $2500, which seemed reasonable for that much digging/excavation/work. He finished the job in less than four hours with just a few parts through an access panel that had already been there in the kitchen backing up to that bathroom. When we asked him to lower the bill from $2500, he refused. What a rip off!

Professional at stealing $7300.00 from 66 year olds!

by on

I heard an add on the radio for them to come out and service your existing heater which included a basic tuneup for around $50 bucks. So I sent them out to my 66 year old mother on a fixed income. When they got there, they told her she needed a new furnace. When it was all said and done, they charged her $4758.00 for a new freaking furnace that sells online for around $1500! Then told her that her swamp cooler would ruin the new furnace and she should go with centeral air. That ran her 0ver $2500.00! All said and done for both on a single wide manufactured home....over $7250.00! Had I had known they take advantage of the elderley, I would of NEVER called them! If you need something call Dick Kearsley or Barlow. Much much better.

Price Gouging

by on

Whipple came to my house on a Sat. They replaced two tank assemblies and two faucet aerators. It was all done in an hour. Whipple charged me $601 for that. So I could be generous and say the parts cost $100 (but it was more like $60). So I paid $500+ in labor. Now I understand a weekend call is more expensive, but $500? Are you kidding me? They also make you fill out a customer survey right in front of the technician...of course you're not gonna say it was bad. And they claim upfront pricing....they would not even itemize parts and labor. If they did so, I could tell them to their face their prices are way off. They are lying in advertising. I wouldn't use them again if they paid me.
