Name: Evan Wharton Private Bass Studio. Descripton: My name is Evan Wharton and I have been playing the upright bass and bass guitar for 8 years. I perform regularly all over Utah with groups of a wide range of types including jazz combos, big bands, rock bands, orchestras, brass bands, etc. I am extremely passionate about music and music education and have a strong desire to help instruct upcoming players to not only become great a great player, but also a well rounded and versatile performer and musician. I help my students learn how to adapt to any playing environment and how to be a problem solver.A little bit more about me. I am currently a student at the University of Utah working on a Jazz Composition and Music Education degree. I perform in many of the top ensembles the University offers. Throughout high school I performed with Caleb Chapman's Crescent Super Band, a professional big band comprised only of high school students that has been consistently ranked best of it's kind in the country by Downbeat Magazine. I am now working at Caleb Chapman Music directing several award winning ensembles. I have toured all over the world playing at many prestigious Jazz Festivals including the Montreux Jazz Festival, the Tuscia Jazz Festival, the Berklee Jazz Festival, and the Telluride Jazz Festival. I have performed with legendary artists including Jeff Coffin (Dave Matthews Band), Peter Erskine, Gordon Goodwin, Poncho Sanchez, Eric Marienthal, and Wayne Bergeron, to name a few. I have also performed with Utah Symphony on numerous occasions.I have two teaching locations: Sandy (1477 E. Ascot Pkwy, 84092) and Salt Lake City (3386 S Paige Circle, 84109). My rates run at $15 for half hour sessions, or $30 for hour sessions. I accept both beginning and advanced students and can teach any style/genre you are interested in.
