We are not attorneys. We are a professional document preparation service. We prepare the documents that constitute a bankruptcy or divorce petition for you and, in most cases accompany you to the Court Clerk's office when you file your petition. We also provide process service.
After filing we do not represent you in any bankruptcy or divorce proceeding. We do not give you legal advice, including:
Telling you which kind of bankruptcy to file;
Telling you not to list certain debts;
Telling you not to list certain assets;
Telling you what property to exempt.
Also, we do not file or arrange to be filed any bankruptcy petition for our clients.
Published supreme court opinions hold that non-attorneys have a Constitutional right to provide clients with specific and detailed written information and instructions regarding bankruptcy law and procedure (such as information generally contained in "self-help" legal guides) but cannot provide any specific advice, explanation or instruction in direct response to a client's or potential client's written or oral inquiry.
