Children learn Spanish similarly to how they learned their native language: quite naturally!!!
The class is full immersion; and this means we create and implement activities entirely in Spanish.
The classes are small to create a meaningful experience for individual students and ensure the teacher is able to engage each student in the Spanish language.
We use play-based learning experiences. During learning time, the children rotate to different content centers and use language in a natural context rather than teaching them language rules and drills. The content areas focus on what the children are already familiar with from home: children play games, sing songs, hear and act out stories, participate in creative expression, help prepare snacks, etc. For example, children sing “En La Feria de San Juan” while playing instruments in the music center, listen to and act out “The Three Little Pigs” in Drama Center, make puppets in the Art Center, help prepare cookies in the Kitchen Center, play kickball in the Sports and Games Center, and water and take care of plants in the Gardening Center while speaking Spanish.
The playful environment created by exciting developmentally appropriate activities and loving teachers is ideal for learning the Spanish language.
