With over four years of higher education at Brigham Young University-Idaho, emphasis in music composition, I have been given the skills and knowledge to teach at any level for private and group lessons for several different instruments, along with the rules of tonal and harmonic theory needed for composition. I have played with Sting's guitar player and the California Guitar Trio and Montreal Guitar Trio. I have classical voice training and work hard to incorporate theory, anatomy, and diction in my singing instruction. I play the classical guitar, baroque guitar, electric guitar, theorbo, and lute on a professional level, while also playing percussion, piano, bass, sitar, mandolin, and have a great level and understanding of music theory. I have an exceptional amount of repertoire for any level of students.
I use for classical guitar:
The Royal Conservatory’s Guitar Repertoire and Studies series
Andres Segovia’s Diatonic Major and minor scales
Aaron Shearer’s Classic Guitar Technique
Andres Segovia’s edition of Twenty Studies for the Guitar by Fernando Sor
For singing I teach classically, pop/rock, and Broadway. I use the foundations of classical singing to achieve proper techniques in the other genres of singing. An example of vocal repertoire include, but are not limited to:
Twenty-Four Italian Songs and Arias published by Hal Leonard
The Singer’s Anthology published by Hal Leonard (Broadway/Musical Theater)
Folk Songs for Two published by Alfred
Rock and pop guitar playing uses a different line of repertoire and is usually more specific (EX.Guitar Anthology Series: Boston published by Alfred). I focus more on classic rock but all other genres I can teach to a professional level.
