My name is Daniel Horne and I am a certified teacher in the State of Utah. I have endorsements in History, Special Education and Administrative Leadership. I taught history and special education at a residential treatment center in Orem Utah (Provo Canyon School) for two years where I worked with girls from the ages of 12-18 who had a myriad of behavioral and emotional struggles along with academic struggles (grades 6-12), Special Education (focus on reading, writing and English) for 3 years in Alpine School District at the secondary level (grades 7-9) and have been teaching history in Alpine School District for the last 2 years (grades 7-9). As a Special Education teacher, I had tremendous success with my students in getting them up to grade level and acquiring the necessary skills to be released from their IEP's. I use research-based practices and interventions to get students up to grade level. As a history teacher, I am passionate about teaching true history and helping students apply what has happened in history to their lives. I have had tremendous success with my students when taking this approach and their desire for learning has increased through this approach. I graduated from UVU in 2008 with my degree in History Education and Military Science; I earned my endorsement in Special Education from Weber State University in 2010 and I graduated from BYU with my Master's degree in Educational Leadership in 2013. As a tutor, I charge $30/hour and prefer to tutor from my home, but will travel if needed at an extra cost. I am located in Saratoga Springs and I am available M-F from 4-8 and will tutor in 50-minute sessions. I can tutor on Saturdays on a case-by-case basis. References available upon request.
