I am a University of Phoenix student about to receive a degree in Elementary Education. My goal is to become a junior high school math and English/ ESL(English as a Second Language) teacher. I have many years of tutoring ESL on a voluntary basis, volunteering in adult literacy centers and learning to help adults improve reading literacy. I help my own children in school with their homework and in particular with reading, math and spelling. I particularly enjoy helping students from elementary level to high school with subjects like basic mathematics, Algebra I and II and geometry, teaching students to understand concepts and patterns and utilizing various problem solving strategies in unique ways, reading comprehension, writing, spelling, ESL, helping students to understand life sciences, psychology and basic inorganic sciences such as geology and chemistry (on a basic level). There is a great need for excellent teachers in this country. The more educated, prepared and skilled the teacher is, the better they will be.Tutors helping other students in the field is a real plus. The teaching need greatest in Utah to close the education gap is the need of help in reading and mathematics. Recent information has shown Utah is still behind in these two critical areas. As an aspiring educator, I can provide help in these areas. If your child or student needs additional help in reading, writing or mathematics please contact me for assistance. I can also help with test preparation/anxiety and help to remove student fears of subjects like mathematics. High School or online degree college students if you are in need of help on a weekend for math and it is not available, let me know. My cost for services is $15 per hour during the week and $18 on the weekends. Please contact Michelle @ 801-603-1719. I will be happy to set appointments. I usually prefer to meet in the local libraries or I can go to the schools.
