I am Daniel Glover. I was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, California. I have been listening to, watching others, and playing the piano since I was about 4. I began classical training at age 7 and got bored with it by age 11. When I was about 13, I was visiting with my grandfather who has been playing the piano throughout his whole life. He is a jazz pianist. This time around, he was playing "What Kind of Fool Am I?" and asked him for the music because I loved the sound so much. He handed it over and it was written differently than any music I'd seen. There was no bass cleff, there were letters and numbers above the staff, and I didn't know how to read it. He taught me that those were called chords. He then taught me about scales, where before I'd only known to site-read music. I learned my keys, my circle of fifths, my scales, and found out that I was given a natural rhythm for the music of the 20's, 30's, 40's, and 50's.
I play the songs that people fall in love to, the songs husbands and wives dance to, the songs mom and dad fall asleep to, the songs lovers whisper to, the songs which ought to be in every young man's heart when he sees the woman of his dreams.
