I've been in the field for long enough to know that many young students with moderate to severe disabilities aren't getting all the services they need at school, and their families are left with a lot of questions and very little help. Hope and Help for Home provides in-home support for kids with disabilities and their families.
Starting with a different way to get to know your student, play-based assessment helps identify strengths that can be built on and helps identify those areas that may be lacking. Real, genuine time is spent getting to know the student, building rapport, and getting to know the family. Functional suggestions are given to families along with help getting things started for goals the families want in their homes. Nothing is pushed or insisted on. All services are offered merely as suggestions, and then any help wanted is given. First consultation is FREE! Willing to travel.
As someone who has been in the field for a decade, I have worked with over a hundred kids of varying abilities, different inclinations, sensory needs, behavior issues, communication struggles, and a vast number of diagnoses. I am passionate about building rapport with students and doing what works best for them in order to increase their quality of life and give help to those who love and care for them. I have a Masters degree in Special Education, a Bachelor's in International Cultural Studies with an emphasis in communication, taught in a functional life skills classroom, provided respite services for families, worked as an autism skills trainer in Hawaii, and worked as a paraprofessional in a classroom. I also teach night classes for people getting their Masters in Special Education. Please let me know if I can help you!
