I am available to sit and visit, read, run errands, cook, clean, go to a movie... the list goes on. I know there is a growing need, our mothers and fathers, grandmothers and grandfathers want to remain independent but there is concern, a desire that someone be there, just in case they need help. I would like to be that person.
I have been caring for an elderly woman who had dementia and Alzheimer's. I stayed with her ten hours a day, three days a week, for 10 months. I showered her, dressed her, prepared her food, helped her in the bathroom, sometimes put her to bed. I fell in love with her and she is missed. She was 91 years old. I really enjoyed the experience.
