About Me: My name is Mike Mann and I am a recent graduate of Harvard University's Graduate School of Education. I love to help students learn and succeed, and would be tremendously happy to help you or your student attain high achievement.
Why choose Mike? I believe learning is like a sport: proper technique is usually more important than raw ability. Unfortunately, most students struggle not because there's anything wrong with them but because schools teach information without proper learning techniques. If a sports coach were to do the same with his or her players, any members of the team who didn't intuatively "get it" would quickly fall behind.
My studies are in the area of identifying and teaching with the best learning techniques, including those used by top memory champions. My students quickly learn that these techniques can be easily used by anyone, of any age. I can personally attest that they work, as they are the same I used to prepare for my own tests. They made an incredible difference in my life. Studying began to take half the time it did before, and I found that I retained the information much longer.
Qualifications: I have served as a tutor for over five years, and have been trained as an Advanced Level Tutor by the CRLA. I have tutored students in many subjects, including English, writing, various math discliplines, the sciences, and others. I received a bachelor's degree in Management with University Honors from Brigham Young University, a master's degree in Education from Harvard University, and was priviliged to work with the Tutoring Outreach to Provo Schools (TOPS) initiative.
