I train and ride horses at any level. I can start your colts or fillies, or keep an older horse going for you. I specialize in dressage and jumping, but I can teach a horse any style you want. I charge $35 a ride/session plus hay, which includes 4 rides a week for a month.
When I start your horses, I will do it in a way that they will want to be with you after I am done. They will not be treated roughly, and I will take the training as gently as I need to, depending on the temperament and previous training of your horse. I have learned how to start horses from a classical dressage master who learned at the Reinstitut von Neindorff in Germany, and from a British riding instructor who I have taken lessons from for 5 years. I do not shuttle the bit and pull with my hands to make the horse get its head down, like other English riders. I will work your horse from the haunches forward so that they collect on their own and form a willing partnership with them, without the use of harsh bits, or hard hands. My emphasis is on suppling and bending, and keeping the horses calm, foward, and straight so that their experience with people is pleasant and enjoyable. A horse who finds people trustworthy is a horse who can be trusted.
I can teach you AND your horse:
--Jumping and dressage basics
--Cross country/eventing basics
--Weight and pressure aides
--Troubleshooting (for behavioral problems)
--Basic obstacle course/confidence building over spooky objects
I have training references who would love to talk to you about the work I have done for them.
I also offer horse back riding lessons for all ages and experience levels at a very competitive price. I have taught lessons for 8 years to children of all ages and to adults. I can teach western and english riding lessons, but my main focus is on dressage and jumping.
