Hi, I'm Michael. For the past 12 years I have been lucky enough to do what I love: teach people to sing.
About me I'm first and foremost a teacher---it's my passion. I taught voice at a university`s internationally-recognized music program before opening my own studio. I'm also a performer, so I know firsthand what it's like to be in your shoes!
Students I generally teach students 12 years old and up, but will make exceptions in some cases.
I've successfully taught: -Experienced professionals, who end up amazed at how we've expanded the range, or corrected vocal problems, they've had for 30+ years -New singers who want to stand out from the crowd as unique artists -People with serious hearing impairments -People who've suffered serious vocal damage
Technique Though I have training in a variety of "techniques," including "speech-level" singing, and can help you with those techniques if you choose, I fundamentally do not believe in homogeneous, one-size-fits-all technique instruction. My teaching is customized specifically for you, your voice, your style, your expectations. I don`t think you should try to "sound like" someone else, or mimic their technique---you should sound like you: the BEST you.
Styles I can help you with a variety of vocal styles, including classical, belt, mix, musical theater, jazz, and rock. For students new to singing, I'll help you determine where your natural abilities lie and what style most interests you; for experienced singers, I'll help you take your voice where you've always wanted it to go---for a specific audition or show, or simply for all your future jobs.
Scheduling I generally teach new students on Tuesday or Wednesday evenings, though other times are possible as well; I do my best to work with your schedule.
