Utah Lead Renovator Training - 8 Hour Course
( Failure to follow EPA Lead certification rules can cost $37,500.00 per day in fines. )
EPA approved Utah Lead-Safe Renovator Certification
(RRP) EPA's Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule requires that individuals and firms performing renovation, repair, and painting to follow lead-safe work practices.
Lead-Safe training is required to work on projects involving renovation, repair, or painting (RRP) in residential or child-occupied (children under age 6) facilities built before 1978 and in which lead paint exists.
If more than 6 square feet interior or 20 square feet exterior will be disturbed, there must be a Certified Lead Renovator supervising the project.
This program was developed to train renovation, repair and painting contractors in how to work safely with lead-based paint while in compliance with HUD’s lead-Safe housing Rule and the EPA’s RRP Rule. The curriculum is sponsored by Seagull in accordance with and governed by EPA and State regulations.
The Utah Lead Renovator Course is an eight-hour course taught in a classroom setting, and includes hands-on training in lead safe work practices.
Students must pass a written exam at the end of the course and will be tested on their ability to carry out lead safe work practices using the correct procedures during use of equipment demonstrated in the classroom.
The training provider will maintain documentation of each person certified and also provide that information to the State of Utah and EPA as required by law. The initial 8-hour, one day certification course is good for 5 years. To “renew” the certification contractors must take a 4-hour RRP Refresher course.
