Name: Harp Lessons. Descripton:About my Studio: I believe that learning harp should be fun and stimulating. Each of my students receive holistic and personalized lessons that revolve around their personal interests while emphasizing technique, stage artistry, music theory and history, and most of all, enjoying music. I love teaching all forms of music, from classical masterpieces to Disney songs. About Me: I have been playing harp for 15 years. I play what inspires me and keep a very diverse repertoire--from classical and Celtic music to pop, jazz, international, and modern music. From 2005 to 2007 I studied instrumental performance at the Wanda L. Bass School of Music (Oklahoma City University). In 2010 I began a small harp studio in Dallas, Texas. I perform frequently at weddings, events, and religious functions, and have also performed solo concerts, and played with symphonic orchestras and chamber groups. I hold a Masters in Elementary Education from Westminster College, a Utah Teaching License (K-6th grade, all subjects), and currently teach a mixed class of 4th, 5th and 6th graders. I also have a strong background in piano, and am willing to do lessons that focus on both instruments. Lesson prices:$60/month for weekly 20 minute lessons (recommended for young children) $90/month for weekly 30 minute lessons (recommended for upper elementary children and young teens) $180/month for weekly 1 hour lessons (recommended for adults and children serious about progressing quickly) *For an extra fee, I will teach at your house instead of having you come to my studio. Purchasing and renting harps: Harps are expensive instruments. Used lever harps are often available for $800-$5,000, while a concert pedal harp can easily cost $20,000 or much more. I recommend that students begin on a lever harp to keep expenses low for the first few years of study. There are also options to rent which can be great for a new harpist.
