Name: Piano Lessons 1 Block East Of Brigham Young Univ.. Descripton:Hi! I’m Deanne Purdy. I teach beginning through advanced piano, organ and composition students. I have published piano and literary anthologies and have a BYU BA degree in Humanities with an emphasis in Music Education. I have many years of experience as a teacher of music and the arts. I love my former students. Many have won Reflections contests and have been awarded piano scholarships and general music scholarships. You can do it too!Regular lessons are 45 minutes long, $20 weekly, Monday thru Saturday from 12:00-10:00pm.For younger students I advocate the Suzuki concept of parental involvement. A parent is STRONGLY encouraged to attend each lesson. The parent has no responsibility to "teach" or "push" the child into practicing, only to show interest by listening, giving positive feedback, and offering suggestions learned at the previous lesson. After decades of teaching, I have found that this "parental interest" is the key to maintaining interest, rapid progress and excellence.Minimum practice time required depending on age and ability. Adults (beginning through highly advanced) must practice 45 minutes per day, 5 days a week. Using my methods, simple hymns can be played by most beginners in about 6 weeks.Recital every 6 months with students' compositions printed on the program. My students start composing as soon as they begin learning to read notes (in the first few weeks). To track the student's progress through the year, intermittent lessons and each recital will be videotaped, and a DVD created which can be played on your TV. Voice, organ, electronic keyboard, and Sibelius or Finale (composition software) tutorials incorporated as appropriate to the student's progress and interest.
